This privacy policy explains how ClearCents (clearcents.co.za) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website. We take your privacy seriously and have written this policy to be clear and readable rather than deliberately difficult to understand.
ClearCents is a free, independent South African financial education website. We operate at clearcents.co.za and can be contacted at hello@clearcents.co.za.
This policy is written in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), South Africa's primary data protection legislation, which came into full effect on 1 July 2021.
ClearCents is a calculator tool. You do not need to create an account, log in, or provide any personal information to use it. We do not store any numbers you enter into the calculator. When you close the page, your inputs are gone.
However, like most websites, we collect certain data automatically through third-party services:
Google Analytics — We use Google Analytics to understand how people use ClearCents. This includes which pages were visited, how long visitors spent on the site, what device and browser they used, and which country they visited from. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects this data anonymously. We cannot identify you personally from this data. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Google AdSense — We may display advertisements provided by Google AdSense. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other sites. Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. ClearCents itself does not set any first-party cookies. The third-party services listed above (Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Microsoft Clarity) do set cookies in accordance with their own privacy policies.

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, you have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate information, to request deletion of your information, and to object to the processing of your information. We do not store your personal data on our servers. The calculator runs entirely in your browser and no input data is transmitted to or stored by ClearCents. Third-party services we use (Google, Microsoft) maintain their own security standards.
ClearCents may contain links to external websites, including investment platforms and financial service providers. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
ClearCents is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
